The Doxy Jumps Ship

Sky 3 is having a day of Riverdance, which I am sitting here watching, and as usual I have got all nostalgic about a really close friend, Gwen Sale.

Self-confessed LJ addict as I am, I'm finding deliberate abstention from LJ surprisingly easy today. It's been nice hanging out here on IJ, seeing who's around and chatting with my friends. It kind of proves the point to me of what the content strike is all about; it doesn't matter what bells and whistles the site has, it's the people and the community which make blogging worthwhile.

I've changed my layout twice in the past two days. I'll probably change it a few more times before I'm done :-). Also, thanks to karieauthoress, I installed the Adblocker extension to Firefox a little while ago which means that, even as a basic user, I am now not seeing ads on IJ. Yay!

My kids are away until Monday, and I could be out at a local shanty festival (yay for the doxy and salty seadogs!) but because I am still not all that well I am staying home instead. I am all cozy on the sofa, watching a programme on TV about the new rising stars in Riverdance. It makes me want to be out playing Irish music somewhere... ::sigh::.

Those of you who are on my LJ friends list will know that I've not been too well of late. I'm currently up at 1.40 am, feeling like crud, waiting for the paracetemol to kick in, and wondered if you lovely people could help me out :-).

I need fic to read. But not just any old fic - I need it to fit my biggest kink, which is angst combined with H/C. Sadness and despair, followed by squishy comfort and a happy (or at least hopeful) ending. Slash preferably, but gen - as long as it is heavy on the cuddly stuff - is also great :-)

Fandoms - well, as you know, TS is my favourite. I'd also love recs of good NCIS fic, preferably DiNozzo/Gibbs; and CSI Nick/Grissom (EE? I'm looking at you!). Also Wesley/Angel? Rare pairing, I know, but I love it. Any and all other suggestions welcome!

I got this journal a while ago, having spied stormy seas ahead. As I am planning to log out of LJ on Friday in protest at SUP's recent shenanigans, I thought I'd come over here to play a bit in advance, getting my layout set up etc.

So. Anyone else planning to play here instead on Friday? I kinda like this understated place, with a nice, cozy friends list. Almost reminds me of the good old days back on LJ, when I first started out in blog-land ::nostalgic sigh:: :-)
